Toyo Printing Inks, affiliated with Japan-based Toyo Ink Group, one of the world's largest ink manufacturers, joined the world's biggest corporate sustainability movement as a signatory to the UN Global Compact (UNGC) to make our world more livable and to aid the global struggle in 2021. The annual progress report, which includes the results within the scope of UNGC principles, was published for the first time at the UNGC in March.

As a signatory to the UN Global Compact, reducing carbon emissions and offering solutions to the problem of climate change occupies an important position among the sustainability goals of Toyo Printing Inks. Toyo Printing Inks, which publicly presented to its stakeholders the company’s approaches and actions in this direction in the progress report published for the first time on the UNGC website, also aims to increase its climate action contributions and achieve large-scale emission reductions by participating in the UN Global Compact Climate Ambition Accelerator Project in 2021.

Toyo Printing Inks, which added practices related to the "Renewable Energy Use" in its business plan in the past months, set a carbon reduction target of 42% according to the scenario of a 1.5°C increase in global temperature in 2030, the "Science-Based Target Setting Manual" prepared based on 2020. As a result of all these activities, it converted 50% of its electricity consumption in 2021 to a renewable energy source received the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate and reduced its total carbon emission value for 2021 by 32% with efforts.

Having the Zero Waste Certificate and performing its activities in this context, Toyo Printing Inks contributed to recycling and the environment by saving 68 trees from 4004 kg of waste paper and 50 barrels of oil from 3061 kg of waste plastic.
